taste the love.

This Thanksgiving, I hope you can spend some time in a kitchen. Whether it is making a family recipe or just keeping someone company.  Today is a day to gather with family and friends and surround ourselves with love (or sometimes drama) and really good food.

This year we will be sharing Thanksgiving with our great friends here in Aspen and I am making pumpkin pies. I just called home to Wisconsin and my sister was telling me that our dad has been in the kitchen for over three days preparing all the pieces and parts of their meal. That is the thing about Thanksgiving, there is so much time and love put into cooking all the food – so much that you can taste it. Isn't that what makes everything about Thanksgiving dinner so delicious.

Wherever you are and whomever you are with, Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours and may you taste love in the food you eat today.

I love following Words to Shoot By. It is a photo collaboration based on a single word. They recently held a special call for entries from outside contributors. My heart skipped a beat when I read this as I was so thrilled just to have the opportunity to participate. I am always so inspired by these creative photographers. And to use my camera for a specific assignment - this was going to be so much fun!

The word –  Orange. Searching for, shooting and being inspired by this word was the best part. And, being chosen as one of the 10 guest contributors was pretty awesome too! I am addicted and can't wait for the next open entry!

Here are a few other photos with this feel-good color. These were not shot for this project but they are a collection of some of my orange favorites for you to enjoy!

Today we planned to go see the mammoth and mastodon exhibit at Snowmass but the line was overwhelmingly long, 2+ hours, so I went outside where the snow was slowly falling and played with my camera instead.

be here now.

On Sunday my 18 month old nephew and I were outside in my yard and a gust of wind came by so strong it lifted most of the remaining leaves off the nearby Aspen tree and carried them all around us. “Look at the leaves” I said. He opened his little arms, tilted his head back and paused...feeling the wind wrap around him, listening and looking with intensity until he focused on one leaf in particular and followed it to the ground. Then he looked up and smiled. Together we were perfectly in the moment and it felt absolutely wonderful. Pure Joy!

hello there.

It is a fall day in early November. The leaves are swirling around in the wind outside and it feels like a good time of year to start a blog. I am happy to be here.
