throw your hands in the air

Life can be like a roller coaster...
And just when you think you've had enough,
and your ready to get off the ride and take the calm, easy merry-go round...
You change your mind, throw you hands in the air
and ride the roller coaster all over again.
That's exhilaration...that's living a bit on the edge...that's being ALIVE.

weekending

sat outside and watched the shadows lengthen as the sun went down
chatted with a good friend
cut a few inches off my hair
hiked up to the beautiful hanging lake in Glenwood Canyon
walked the dog along the Rio Grande in the early morning light
cleared the clutter
spent the afternoon outdoors with my parents
dug in the dirt and planted my flower garden
created an mini herb garden in a cute little pot
enjoyed a delicious dinner on the bbq, cooked by the pro himself
and topped it off with ice cream cones - a sure sign of summer

Sharing the weekend – my most favorite part of the week – with photos, words, or both, as suggested over here at the habit of being.

it is an art

One of my very best friends married the most wonderful man last weekend and they shared this reading as part of their ceremony. So true. So well said. A great quote to revisit time and time again throughout a marriage. Congratulations B&R! Love you guys.

The Art Of Marriage

Happiness in marriage is not something that just happens.
A good marriage must be created.
In the art of marriage the little things are the big things...

It is never being too old to hold hands.

It is remembering to say "I love you" at least once a day.

It is never going to sleep angry.

It is at no time taking the other for granted;
the courtship should not end with the honeymoon,
it should continue through all the years.

It is having a mutual sense of values and common objectives.
It is standing together facing the world.

It is forming a circle of love that gathers in the whole family.

It is doing things for each other, not in the attitude
of duty or sacrifice, but in the spirit of joy.

It is speaking words of appreciation
and demonstrating gratitude in thoughtful ways.

It is not looking for perfection in each other.
It is cultivating flexibility, patience,
understanding and a sense of humour.

It is having the capacity to forgive and forget.

It is giving each other an atmosphere in which each can grow.

It is finding room for the things of the spirit.
It is a common search for the good and the beautiful.

It is establishing a relationship in which the independence is equal,
dependence is mutual and the obligation is reciprocal.

It is not only marrying the right partner, it is being the right partner.

It is discovering what marriage can be, at its best.

wash away

I am taking a wonderful yoga class in a studio located alongside the Roaring Fork river. I am really appreciating the practice. But I am especially grateful for the sensation at the end of class when I lie there in savasana ~ and I LET GO. I let it all just rush out of my body...out the window...and down the river. It all just washes away and I am left with peace and presence.

Sista Sass

We communicate with just a look, we laugh until we cry, we cry until we laugh, we are so darn silly together, we just simply get each other! I am so lucky to have you! Happy birthday to my little sis.

shades of grey

“Shades of grey wherever I go
The more I find out the less that I know
Black and white is how it should be
But shades of grey are the colors I see.”
